Jo Ann Daly
Jo Ann Daly came to Tucson in 2008 from Arlington, Virginia where she was a Professor in the Marymount University School of Education and Human Services. There she taught classes in teacher education, reading and the language arts. She joined the Arlington Kiwanis club in January 2002 and transferred her membership to Kiwanis Club de Amigos when she arrived.
Jo Ann’s love for art is lifelong, yet she only began painting later in life. Her artwork hangs in private collections across the United States and is frequently seen in solo and group shows in the Tucson region.
For Jo Ann, painting is the ultimate act of relaxation and creation. Everything she paints has taken its hue from her experiences both directly and indirectly. The works flow from some lovely, quiet, inner place and help to balance her academic life. She loves to paint both realistically and in more abstract formats. Her newfound ability to bring forth art from real life has taught her to see with new eyes and to appreciate even the smallest of experiences.
Jo Ann is a member of several art groups and guilds in Tucson and Tubac. She teaches painting classes to beginners of all ages and uses her experiences as a teacher and artist to assist the Kiwanis de Amigo Club’s efforts in helping the children of the Tucson area. She also serves as the club’s Sunshine Chair.
