Dave Bertagnoli

Dave was an Army brat, born in New Jersey and lived in Asia and Europe before moving to Ft Huachuca in 1955. in 1964 he went to Arizona State College in Flagstaff (now NAU) for two years before dropping out and joining the Marines. He spent 1967 in Viet Nam as a machine gunner. After the Marines he worked in the Long Beach - Huntington Beach oilfields for a few years before returning to school. Upon graduation Dave went into the Navy as a tactical coordinator on P-3 aircraft. His first tour after earning his wings was in Maine, from where he deployed to Bermuda, the Azores, Spain and Greece. From Maine he was transferred to San Diego where he worked on San Clemente Island for two years before being attached to an aircraft carrier and sailing throughout the Pacific and Indian Oceans. In 1982 he was sent to Great Britain for a joint duty tour with the Air Force. In 1985 it was back to San Diego for two years on destroyers before going to the Pentagon. His last tour was back on a carrier just in time for Desert Storm. After retiring from the Navy in 1992 he moved back to the Washington DC area and married Cherie, whom he met while at the Pentagon. He landed in the law firm administration field in 1996, working for one of the most powerful lobbying firms in the capital. Dave and Cherie moved to Tucson in 2007. Dave has two sons, each of whom has three children. He holds a BA in history/biology from Cal-State Fullerton and a MA in International Relations from USC, which was earned mostly in Britain. Dave enjoys skiing and SCUBA diving and participates in the Senior Games at the local, state and national levels.
